The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI): Muslim activists targeted by the government

The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) was formed in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh state, in April 1977. SIMI was formed by a group of Muslim students in Aligarh Muslim University which comes form all parts of India aiming to establish an Islamic state in that country. Its founding president was Dr. Mohammad Ahmadullah Siddiqi, now professor of journalism and public relations at the University of Western Illinois and also a founding member secretary general of the North American Association of Muslim Professionals and Scholars.
SIMI was founded independently as part of his mission to educate and enlighten the Muslim community. SIMI was set up to study Islam like in a study circle and to present Islam through lectures and seminars to students at colleges and schools.

Later SIMI stood for radical social change in India, an approach not appreciated by the leadership of Indian Muslims. In 1981 SIMI activists protested against PLO leader Yasser Arafat’s visit to India, and greeted him with black flags in New Delhi. Young SIMI activists identified Arafat as a western puppet, while the senior Muslim leaders saw Arafat as a champion of the cause of Palestine. Yasser Arafat visited Afghan and support Russian invasion of Afghan. Yasser Arafat the - true friend of Indira Gandhi – then visited New Delhi in 1981, but SIMI alleged that one who supports the Russian invasion against Muslims in Afghan will not be a true Muslim and he can’t understand the suffering of Palestine Muslims.

SIMI believed that, despite its strengths and weaknesses as a youth organization, it could play a catalytic role in the affairs of the Ummah. Opposed to secularism, nationalism and western-style democracy, SIMI advocated the need to oppose oppressive regimes and work for the Ummah. Its slogan was "Allah is our Lord, Qur’an is our constitution, Muhammad is our leader, Jihad is our way and Shahadah is our desire". It strength quickly grew to 400 Ansar – registered members – and about 20,000 supporting members.

SIMI had a separate wing for sisters under the banner "Girls’ Wing" and one for the children (to keep them tuned to the Islamic value-system right from the budding stage of upbringing), under the name "Shaheen Force". SIMI published several magazines in various languages, including al-Harkah in Urdu, Tahreek in Hindi, Iqraa in Gujrati, Rupantar in Bengali, Sedhi Madal in Tamil, Vivekam in Malayalam, Movement in English and Shaheen Times in English for children.

The organization has declared itself to be against Hinduism, western thought and other non-Islamic influences they see as contributing to immorality. SIMI consider themselves to be in a jihad against these influences in India.
SIMI identified the Indian Government and Sangh Parivar as enemies of Islam and India, and exposed India’s failure to address basic human rights issues. In 1986 SIMI organized a national convention with the slogan "liberation of India through Islam", and exposed India’s failure to address the problem of millions of "Untouchables" (Dalits) living under the Brahmins’ hegemony.

Most Muslims did not welcome SIMI’s "Khilafat Campaign", which denounced nationalism and advocated the return of Khilafat to the Muslim world, although SIMI’s campaign was universal, not like other Organisations, rather than pertaining strictly to India in particular. However, SIMI had a clear-cut answer to India’s futile electoral politics, and thus made sure that throughout the 24 years of its catalytic role in the Ummah, its members boycotted elections and also appealed to fellow citizens to abstain from India’s corrupt and unreformable ‘democratic’ politics. SIMI teaches democracy is an anti-Islamic kufrian law and Muslims must reject it and boycott the election process which strengthen the Kufrian government.

While other Islamic organisations watched helplessly as the Sangh Parivar campaigned to demolish the 464-year-old Babri Mosque, SIMI went on the streets to enlighten the masses about the threat to Islam in India. One policy of SIMI was watched particularly closely by the Indian government: its stand on Kashmir. SIMI was the only Muslim organization that dared to declare that Kashmir was not an "integral part" of India and that Muslims need to raise their voices against the violations of human rights in the Valley. Kashmiri leader Syed Shah Jeelani attended a SIMI convention in 1997, which was an opportunity for SIMI activists to discuss issues of the Islamic movement, but which for the Indian authorities was the beginning of "ISI links", ie. links to Pakistan’s intelligence service. Geelani and other Kashmiri Human Right Organisations keep good touch with SIMI, because of SIMI's loud voice in the streets of India.

After the demolision of Babri Masjid, SIMI turned to an active Milli Organisation, rather than a Student Movement. SIMI try to enlighten the Muslim Ummah regarding the threat of Indian Government and Hindu Organisations. SIMI ask Muslim Ummah to act and react against the aggression of Indian Government as well as Hindu Organisations.

After the destruction of the Buddhist statues in Bamiyan by the Taliban, the Sangh Parivar in India burnt copies of the Qur’an in the streets. Muslim organisations tried to condemn this "intellectually", through statements to the press, but SIMI conducted mass-awareness campaigns instead. The violence that broke out in some northern towns were attributed to SIMI’s "virulent" campaign, although the authorities found no reason to find fault with the anti-social elements who burnt the Qur’an in broad daylight, which they justified as natural response to events in Afghanistan. SIMI tried to organise various Muslim Organisations under one umbrella for the protection of Islamic Symbols after the Qur’an burnt incident in New Delhi.

After this incident Government killed 18 Muslims in Kanpur where SIMI called for a demonstration. Like the Babri Masjid incident Quran Burnt incident also create big explosion in India. SIMI ask Muslim Ummah to ready for a Jihad against Indian Government and Hindu Organisations. SIMI re-launched the campaign “Turn to creator, Call to creator, Jihad fie Sabilillah”. SIMI announce “the Liberation of India through Islam”

On September 27, 2001, SIMI was proscribed under the notorious Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA), accused of having links with ISI and other "terrorist" organisations worldwide, and of attempting to "destabilize the nation". SIMI was alleged as the outfit of Al Qaeda in India and banned after 9/11. Also Indian authorities alleged SIMI have its relation with Lashka-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Muhammad (Jem), Hizbul Mujahidien (Hizb) and Harkatul Ansar (HuA).
SIMI is also accused of receiving funds from abroad, especially from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. This is a patently absurd charge against a committed organization that in its 24 years of activism had a strict policy against receiving funds from abroad, especially from Saudi Arabia, the allie of USA, which SIMI rightly believed would be the first step on the road to subservience, and the eventual dilution of its revolutionary appeal. Interestingly, after the ban, Indian intelligence agencies also found it convenient to accuse SIMI of working with Pakistan-based "terrorist outfits" to sabotage "peace in India".

****
SIMI’s expressed goal is to convert India into Dar al-Islam, and the group has declared jihad against the secular Indian state. SIMI seeks inspiration from the views of Ibn Taimiya, Ibn Al Qayyim, Shah Waliyullahi Dehlawi, Shaheed Sayed Ahmed, Shaheed Shah Ismail, Haji Shariatullah, Shaheed Sayed Qutub, Shaheed Abdullah Azzam, Shaheed Abdel Salam Farj, Maududi and Deobandi Ulema. According to SIMI, Islam is not just a religion but an ideology, the Quran is the only basis for governing human life, and it is the duty of every Muslim to propagate Islam and wage jihad to establish an Islamic state. SIMI is against not only the Western culture and modernization that Qutub and Maududi critiqued at length, but also the prevalent Hindu Brahmanical culture and idol worship. In other words, the mere existence of other faiths and beliefs is unacceptable, and religious tolerance amounts to diluting Islam’s purity. Jihad, the Umma, and the Caliphate are core concepts in the ideology of SIMI, which stridently asserts Khilafat view.
****
SIMI held a conference in 1999 under the slogan “Allah’s Party Shall Indeed Prevail” (Inna Hizballahi humul ghaliboon). The conference logo depicted the Quran with the superimposed image of a hand holding a gun against a globe. The conference heard an address in Arabic by Shaykh Yasin, which was primarily an exhortation to jihad. Conference participants were issued certificates declaring the “Quran is our constitution; Jihad is our path; and Martyrdom is our desire.”
SIMI launched an All India Campaign "Tawhid v/s Shirk" on the death annversary of Babri Masjid. Also SIMI launched a Babri Masjid campaign "Waiting for Ghaznawi" were SIMI ask Muslm ummah to brought up the qualities of Mehmud Ghazni, the idol destroyer of Somanath Temple, to destroy the idols were Hindus kept in Masjid Babri and to purify the land from Kufr and Shirk. Muslim leaders dislike these campaigns, tells this will crush the Secular concept of India.
****
SIMI targets Muslim youth between the ages of fifteen and thirty for membership. SIMI working as a nursery to train the Muslim Umma and contribute them to various Organisations to lead the Community.
Several former members of SIMI have moved to different parts of India and set up such local radical Islamist groups as the National Democratic Front (NDF) and the Islamic Youth Center (IYC), based in the southern state of Kerala; Darsgah Jihado-Shahadat (School for Jihad and Martyrdom), based in Andhra Pradesh; and the Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (Muslim National Movement—TMMK) in Tamil Nadu. The members of SIMI is leading Organisations like All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Movement for the Protection of Islamic Symbols (TTSI), Milli Council, Jamat-e-Islami (JIH) etc.
SIMI and its associated groups publish several magazines in various Indian languages, including Vivekam in Malayalam, Sedhi Madal in Tamil, Rupantar in Bengali, Iqraa in Gujarati, Tahreek in Hindi, Al Harkah in Urdu and the Shaheen Times in English and Urdu.
In its 2000 annual report, the year before it was banned, SIMI explained its ideological agenda:
"It is the responsibility of this ‘last community’, the ‘best community’, the ‘middle community’, to rise up and face the challenges that surround it, to revive Deen, to lead and guide not only the Islamic world, but all of humanity along the ‘Straight Path’ and rescue it from the clutches of Satanic power. It is the demand of the time that Muslim youth should struggle for the superiority and establishment of Deen and revival of Islam in the light of Holy Quran and Sunnah…The end of the Khilafah led to our disintegration into different countries on the basis of nationalism, language and other sectarian prejudices. Naturally therefore, our main responsibility is to strive in those areas, which are directly related to the reinstating of Khilafah. It is essential to emphasize that no political party or organization can bring about a solid and constructive change through secularism in the light of their erratic ideologies. The only way to bring about real change through …establishing an Islamic system of life.”
****
SIMI was alleged for the 7/11 train bombings in Bombay and he twin blast which shocked Delhi and Bombay. Government arrested widely large number of SIMI activist all around India. President of SIMI, Dr. Shahid Badr Falahi was arrested and sentenced to jail for four years. Moulana Ashraf Jafri and Moulana Yaseen Patel Falahi sentenced to imprison for fourteen years. Saleem Sajid, Finance Secretary, Dr. Hatif Iqbal, Office Sectretary, Shamimul Islam, Saif Nachan were arrested various times and jailed. Moulana Numan Badr arrested twice and jailed. Saquib Nachan, Former Secretary General was jailed for Fourteen years, and after his freedom second time government arrested him under Terrorist law and jailed since 2001. Government arrested 123 SIMI activists from Gujarat before Gujarat Riot and jailed them for three years inside Gujarat. Dr. Abdul Mubin was arrested from Aligarh University Campus. Moulana Naseerudhin was arrested by Gujarat Police on the allegation of Minister Murder case.

Government widely targets SIMI and its members. They know that SIMI is the champion of Islam and the ideology which enlightened by SIMI will crush the Indian kufrian Government.

Government killed Mujahid Shaheed in an encounter at Hyderabad. Azzam Ghori Shaheed was killed by Indian invaded troops in Karim Nagar, Hyderabad. Abubacker Master Shaheed was killed by Hindu Organisations in Calicut. Hafeed and Sajid were martyred in Agra. Seven of its members got martyred by Indian troops in Kashmir.

SIMI is moving forward on the blood of Shuhadas. But, Indian Muslims are still under the slavery of Indian Kufrian Government and Hindu Terrorist Organisations.

# interview with Hizb chief Syed Salahudhin

The most wanted man in India By Hamid Mir
Saturday, January 6, 2007

Syed Salahuddin, alias Syed Yousaf Shah was declared one of the 20 most wanted people by the Indian government in 2002. According to a list provided to Pakistan and Interpol by the Indian Home Ministry, the name of the politician-turned-militant leader was on the top of that list. Spokesman for Indian Foreign Ministry Navtej Sarna formally demanded of Pakistan on July 22, 2006 that Syed Salahuddin should be arrested and handed over to India.
Syed Salahuddin did his masters in Political Science at Srinagar University in 1971. He wrote many English poems in his University days.
He joined Jamat-e-Islami after his education and contested the state election in 1987. He abandoned politics after losing the election and joined the military.
He was one of the founding members of Hizbul Mujaheddin in 1989. Currently he is the Supreme Commander of Hizbul Mujahedin and United Jihad Council, an umbrella organization of 19 militant groups fighting in Kashmir against the Indian Army.
Hamid Mir of Geo TV interviewed Syed Salahuddin in the mountains of Kashmir. Here are the details.

Q: What is your reaction to the recent proposals given by the President Musharaf for joint control of India and Pakistan on Kashmir, self governance? Musharraf also said that he can give up his claim for Kashmir if India accedes to his proposals.

A: Unfortunately India has never demonstrated sincerity in resolving the Kashmir dispute through peaceful means. We have no doubts on the sincerity of President Musharraf, who is adamant to solve this issue but his recent proposals are a big shift in the Kashmir policy of Pakistan. These proposals are also a shift from the views of the people of Kashmir who have demanded liberation and self determination, and they want a solution according to the UN resolutions. This kind of flexible approach or shift in the policy of Pakistan has always been viewed as weakness by India. Even now India is not ready to consider Kashmir as a dispute. Since the time Pakistan has initiated to solve this issue through unilateral ceasefire and different CBM's ,all these measures have not led to the deterioration in the atrocities committed by the Indian security forces in Kashmir, rather this has exacerbated day by day. I think that these unilateral proposals presented simultaneously by Musharraf are losing their importance because there is no positive response from Manmohan Singh.

Q: Recently Indian PM Manmohan Singh has welcomed Musharaf's proposals, and he said in Amritsar that there can be a new peace treaty between India and Pakistan. If there is any such treaty in the future then how will you respond to it?

A: There have been 131 rounds of talks between India and Pakistan in the past like the Simla, Tashqand and Lahore declaration but we had zero outcome out of them. Unless you are going to discuss the core issue of Kashmir, any treaty will be futile because the same issue has caused three wars between these two countries and the threat of a fourth war is again hanging on our heads. A 0.7 ?Ê million strong Indian Army is deployed on the innocent people of Kashmir which is affecting the lives of the Kashmiris in a very destructive manner. So in such circumstances any new peace treaty between India and Pakistan will be fruitless if it is not about the resolution of the basic dispute which is Kashmir. I think an expected new treaty between Musharraf and Manmohan Singh in the year 2007 will not be about Kashmir so it will not change the ground reality. That is why we will not change our policy. We will keep fighting.

Q: Do you have any proposals in your mind for peace in the region?

A: I can propose that India should accept Kashmir as a tripartite issue to solve this issue because it was also accepted by the UN and according to the UN it has three parties, i.e. India, Pakistan and Kashmiris. Kashmiris should be given the right of self determination, which was also mentioned in the Havana declaration only recently.

Q: Suppose that India is ready for tripartite talks, then who is going to represent Kashmiris in the first round of tripartite talks?

A: Let me say that those who ask for the right of self determination for the Kashmiris will go for the representation in the talks. In the first round, UN resolution should be implemented and then under this resolution whatever mechanism is adopted that will be acceptable to us. It is the matter of millions of people's destiny which cannot be decided by the talks of only a few personalities, such as Mir Waiz or any other person. Kashmir is not a border dispute which can be resolved by Musharraf talking to Manmohan Singh, Kashmirs have to be included in the talks. Some of the Kashmiri leaders tried to solve this issue through bilateral talks which is again negating the tripartite level.

Q: Are you pointing towards Mir Waiz Omer Farooq and Yasin Malik who had direct talks with Indian government in the recent past?

A: Yes, with all due respect I must say that these people are not serving any interest of their people by talking directly to India. They say that India does not consider it as a tripartite issue so they turned it to a trilateral issue. I must say that tripartite gives equal rights to the Kashmiris along with India and Pakistan .Trilateral is a useless exercise which will yield no fruit in the future. India is only trying to divide Kashmiris by talking to some people belonging to our region; those who started talks with India got nothing.

Q: Can Hizb ul Mujahidin announce a ceasefire if India agrees on tripartite talks?

A: Ceasefire is outdated now and it has been misused in the past. After the passage of many years, I still think that India is neither serious nor sincere to solve this issue through talks so ceasefire is out of question now. Hizbul Mujahedin once declared ceasefire in 2000 when there were rumors that the issue was going to be resolved soon by talks, but nothing happened .We are no more ready to announce any ceasefire keeping in mind the past track record of India. We cannot forget that India tried to use that ceasefire for creating differences among our own ranks and also between Pakistan and Kashmiris. First of all, India must show its sincerity by accepting Kashmir as disputed. Secondly, by releasing our prisoners, thirdly by withdrawing its forces to the position of 1989 and it must stop its human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, and then our response will be positive.

Q: Your policy seems to be keeping talks and militancy side by side, apparently no chance of cease fire in the future?

A: Yes no ceasefire. Talks can be started without a ceasefire. The same tactics were also adopted in Afghanistan and Vietnam and I am not saying any new thing. I am confined to this point on the basis of India's past record.

Q: Some leaders of the Hurriyat Conference are saying that the people of Kashmir are now tired of militancy and it should be abandoned now. Can you tell me how long you can sustain militancy?

A: I want to reply with due respect that Kashmiris are not tired. Actually these leaders are tired. The Mujahedin have been fighting Indian forces for almost 17 years. How can we sustain the region without the support of the people? The people's support and love for us can be gauged from the fact that our fellow fighters enjoy a lot of popularity in the whole of Kashmir. Whenever one of our fighters is martyred, thousands of Kashmiris gather in around the funeral and chant slogans to show their support for our cause. I totally refute the statement of those who say that the Kashmiris are tired.

Q: You are being accused by some Indian leaders for human rights violations; they have accused you of attacking civilians in Jammu and Kashmir?

A: We have made a code of conduct for the United Jihad Council and whoever violates this conduct is severely punished .Some of the people have been given the death sentence as a consequence of violating this code of conduct. If we find someone working as an informer for the enemy's forces, then we take him into our custody and interrogate him. If he is found innocent, then we set him free. Our code of conduct bars us from conducting any activity in civilian areas.
Q: Can you give me any example of punishment for attacking civilians?
A: Yes I can speak for my organization. We gave the death sentence to two Hizb fighters, namely Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Hassan Khan because it was proved that they violated the code of conduct. In another case one Hizb fighter injured someone; we gave the same kind of injury to our man. That is why people are happy with us.
Q: After 9/11 it was believed that it was the end of Jihad. The Line of Control was heavily fenced by India after a ceasefire between two countries. Many Jihadi outfits were banned in Pakistan. Your offices in Pakistani cities were closed but you are still fighting, who is providing you money, weapons and other logistics?
A: It is written in the Holy Quran and Allah proclaims that whoever follows my path I open new ways of success to him. I have experienced many times in my life and particularly after 9/11 that Allah opened new ways for us because our belief in Allah was not weakened, so it was a blessing in disguise for us. The post 9/11 scenario gave impetus to our movement of self dependence .There is no doubt that LoC is fenced now but the geography of Kashmir is yet not changed. There are still mountains and forests in Kashmir. I must say that the surface of Jammu Kashmir is 110% suitable for militant's activities and we are quite capable enough to fight with 0.7 million Indian forces; even 100 militants can fight with the whole Indian Army present in Kashmir .
After 17 years of this militancy I can say that we are fully equipped with modern weapons. After 9/11 we have successfully targeted our enemy with time bombs and remote bombs which is a proof of our usage of modern technological methods. We have mobile training camps in the forests; we have enough instructors and we are not short of fighters. But there is another issue, this is the responsibility of any good command to adopt a strategy where there is less activity with more quality. Our strategy is that the casualties of our militants should be less and the losses of enemy should be more, and I am sure that we are moving towards success with the passage of time. We are no more running after the number of our operations. We want less causalties with more destruction for the enemy.

Q: After 9/11 there was another impression that all the militants are anti - West and anti - USA. Are you only fighting against India or you are also fighting against the West too?
A: Kashmiris are very emotional people and when they see innocent people dying in Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine then they come out to protest against it. Actually the name of al Qaeda was introduced by America after 9/11 otherwise it was not popular among the Muslims. According to my knowledge there was an office in Jalalabad named Maktab Alkhidmat which was the office of the militants .I never heard of Al Qaeda during the Afghan Jihad, but now al Qaeda is a ground reality. It has become a symbol of resistance against the tyrant regimes, but we have had no introduction or maintain any links with al Qaeda. As far as we, Kashmiris are concerned we are only confined to Kashmir. Indians have always tried to establish our links with Al Qaeda and Taliban but I think its not in our interest to side with al Qaeda because we are not fighting only for the Muslim Kashmiris, we are fighting for all the Kashmiris, including non-Muslims. Bhagat Singh is a national hero of India who bombed the Indian parliament in 1930 and killed British police officials. Famous Indian writer Kaldip Nayer wrote a book on Bhagat Singh which was inaugurated by Vajpaee. If a militant like Bhagat Singh is a freedom fighter for them, then we also have the right to follow the same path for achieving our goals. Today the Indian government is no different from the British Raj of 1930. Indian government cannot destroy our movement by branding us with the Taliban and al Qaeda, Taliban and al Qaeda emerged in the nineties and we started our struggle more than a century ago.

Q: Some people involved in the 7/7 bombing in London belonged to the Kashmiri creed. In fact, they had links in Azad Kashmir. Do you have any linkage with the Kashmiris settled in the West and especially in the UK?

A: Belonging to the Kashmiri creed and linking with the Kashmiris is a different matter. There are so many people working in the USA at sensitive places who are also Kashmiris, but it is not necessary that they all are linked to us. I repeat that we are disappointed with the West, but we are fighting only--and only against Indian occupation in Kashmir. I have been contacted many times by different Western governments in the past and I also made it clear to them that we are confined to Kashmir only.

Q: If you are not fighting outside Kashmir then why is your name among the most wanted people of India, many times Indians have made accusations that you or your outfit was involved in violence outside Kashmir?

A: Many times we have told this to India that they are fighting against militants who are well equipped. When militants attack Indian forces and kill their soldiers, then these forces in spite of taking revenge from us take revenge by raping our families and damaging our properties, then this sort of revenge of India precipitates into retaliation. The irony is that when there is a bomb blast in India, all the International community raises an uproar against it, but when Indian forces kill innocent people in Kashmir and rape our sisters and mothers then there is no such reaction from the International community. We have made it clear to the Indian forces that their revenge should only be limited to us and they should not harm our families but when they damage our properties and kill our family members then we have to retaliate in the manner we don't want to. I warn that we can also hit any soft target in India any time but we have not yet started that revenge because we are fighting against the Indian state not against people of India. We have full sympathy with the people of India. There are 400 million people living below the poverty line in India and we don't bear them any animosity. All the charges about our involvement outside India are false. Indians accused Afzal Guro for participating in the attack on Indian parliament in December 2001. He was given the death sentence by Indian courts, but now Indian human right activists have rejected charges against him and he was declared innocent. Famous Indian writer Arundati Roy in one of her writings proved that Indian intelligence agencies were actually involved in attacks against their own people just to give us a bad name.

Q: You have participated in elections held in Srinagar in 1987 but after the rigging in the elections you have carried the gun. Where do you see yourself after 20 years, can you back to elections sometime?

A: I contested elections of the United Muslim Front against the then Education Minister who hijacked the results of the elections. That time we all believed that we cannot promote our movement through the democratic way. Then I was arrested. It made me realize that slaves don't have votes. To break the shackles of slavery we carried the weapons. After 17 years I say that our success was more than our expectations. These 0.7 ? million forces were not able to hamper our movement and according to rough estimates, 200 Indian soldiers have committed suicide and most of the forces are under tremendous psychological pressure. Most of the army personnel have told Indian leadership that it's difficult to stop militancy on Kashmir's soil. Election is no solution. First right of self- determination and then a fair and free election is.

Q: Is it right that Hindu youngsters are also joining Hizb ul Mujahidin?

A: In Jammu sectors many Hindus are martyred during the fight for Hizb ul Mujahidin. These people have realized that Indians are ruthlessly killing children and women on the basis of taking revenge from the militants. We believe in a pluralistic society where we are not only fighting for the Muslims but also for all the people living in Kashmir irrespective of their religions. The non Muslims in our movement know that we are fighting not only for the Muslims but for everyone living on Jammu Kashmir soil. Our struggle is much older than Pakistan. There are many stories behind the story of our struggle. In 1819 a Sikh Maharaja Ranjit Singh conquered Kashmir, but his disorganized empire fell to the British in 1846 when they took control of Punjab. Kashmir was then sold to the self-entitled Maharajah (Indian King) Ghulab Singh of Jammu for 7.5 million rupees (app. US$166) under the Treaty of Amritsar. Ghulab Singh also brought Ladakh, Zanskar, Gilgit and Baltistan under his control. A succession of Maharajahs followed, marked by several uprisings by the Kashmiri people, of whom a large percentage was now Muslim. In 1889, Maharajah Pratap Singh lost the administrative authority of Kashmir due to worsening management of the frontier region. The British restored full powers to the Dogra rule only in 1921. Dogras were a minority but they were a ruling Muslim majority in Kashmir. They announced succession with India in 1947 against the wishes of Kashmiris. The British government at that time played a very bad role. Kashmir is the unfinished agenda of 1947. Even today there is no legal succession document and that is why India lost its case in the United Nations. We have a strong case with strong local support and that is why many Hindus are with us.

Q: Would you like to tell me any names of your Hindu fighters?

A: A resident of Prem Nagar Kuldip Kumar alias Kamran was recently martyred in Jammu region. He was our area commander. Now Kashmiri Sikhs and Christians are also joining our ranks.

Q: Do you think that the International community will respond and Kashmir will be solved like East Timor?

A: It's like the same when someone has occupied your home and is destroying your property and degrading your family members .Then you are having two options: either you vacate your home or shout for help to the people around you to rescue you. From 24th October 1947 till now this is the record of the people of Kashmir that they have never accepted the illegal occupation of the Indian forces. Before 1989 our ancestors were fighting without any sophisticated weapons but after 1989, when we saw that India was not listening to our legitimate voice then we carried the weapons as the last resort. In the wake of Indian aggression we are not going to drop our guns. I would like to convey my message to all people watching and listening to me that if India does not accept the right of the Kashmiris then we are not going to stop our movement .If any time India is serious to solve this issue through practical mechanism and accepts the right of Kashmiris then we don't have any interest in fighting and we can stop it.

Q: What is the practical mechanism?

A: Accepting the right of self-determination.

Q: Many people are saying that for 20 years Syed Salahuddin has been fighting with weapons, now he should revert back to the politics and walking on the way to peace by participating in elections.

A: If my participation in politics can restore peace, then why I would not go for it? But I don't think that politics and elections can restore peace. Politics is there and elections are taking place regularly but the core issue that is Kashmir must be addressed first. The people who are considering this tripartite level as a trilateral issue then they are being deceived by India because this core issue has never been discussed on the table.
Side issues such as Baglihar dam, Chinab, Wullar Barrage, Indus Treaty, and demilitarization in Siachen are frequently discussed. Ground reality is that India is not ready to accept Kashmir as a core issue .While addressing side issues is a tactic of India to hinder our movement, and I want to say that our movement will be continued with the sacrifices of our Mujahedin. And let me tell you that I tried to raise my voice through the ballot, when the ballot was rigged, then I was forced to speak through the language of the bullet.

Q: Is it right that you are disappointed in Pakistan or with the Musharraf regime?

A: I have not been disappointed in Pakistan or its government. There can be difference of opinion particularly on this core issue which has cost the lives of 0.5 million Muslims. I have the right to express my difference of opinion but there are no differences. Kashmiris have never been disappointed with Pakistan because Pakistan is the main party to this core issue. Our territory is linked to the surface of Pakistan .Millions of Kashmiris are living in Pakistan and their sons have the full right to fight for their rights against the Indian Army. Nobody can stop us. This is our right.

Q: Have you ever got apprehensions that Pakistan can hand you over to India?

A: I never have such fear because I firmly believe that Pakistanis and its leadership will never hand me over to India. The second thing is that I am the son of the soil and I have my right of movement on both sides of Kashmir so I can't be handed over to the enemy. I am on my soil.
Q: You said that you are on your soil; do you think that you are not damaging the interest of this soil?

A: No, because my stay and movement has been accepted by the International community and the place I am living at is a part of my country

# Call for Jihad by an Indian warrior, Mujahid Al Assami

All Muslims in The World Should Fight Against The disbelievers : Mujahid Al-Assami:

Bismillahi Rahmanir Raheem
As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wabrakatuhu

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam of Chechnya.I am a Muslim who tries very hard to keep his Imaan strong and gets more and more closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Taala. When I see the oppression of the infidels in this region and in other parts of the world I cry out praying to Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala and ask HIM to help the mujahideens of the region who are fighting for the sake of Allah so that the kuffars remain away from the Muslim population of the region.
I come from a small city in India.Living there I never knew much or heard a lot about what has been going on in the region.Coming abroad and letting the truth do the talking, ALhamdulillah I have seen, heard and felt that the atrocities of Russian Army on the people of Checnya is so devilish that May Allah curse these infidels and grant Jannah for the shaheed mujahideens of Chechnya.

All Muslims in the world should get united and fight against the disbelievers.Buts its very pathetic to see the plight of how some Muslims react to the situation in Chechnya. There has been lots of International Muslim Organisation, Islamic Scholars, but who has ever tried to bring the situation of Chechnya under the International Scanner.Truly if they want that the Muslims be united, if they want that we live under the rule of Khilafah and if they think about their Muslim brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, it might have been possible.
We hear a lot of International Islamic Organisations do the talk but I dont see that they really think for the Ummah,Astagfirullah I may be making a mistake by saying that but Allah knows what is in their hearts. But what we see, so do we believe. If all the Muslim nations in the world would have been united, if all the islamic organisations in the world would have come together, if all the Muslims in the world would have been together, the situation of the present day world would have been different.

Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said, "The Muslim Ummah is like one body, if a part gets hurt the whole body feels the pain"

Where do we see a Muslim brother caring about another Muslim brother. Its rare to meet and know such Muslim brothers who do everything for the sake of Allah. That should be the base of all our actions, the reason of living as well - FI SABI LILLAH.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala has said in The Quran , "Say O believers : surely my living,my sacrifice and my dying is for the sake of Allah"

Yesterday a Muslim brother of mine was going through some sad moments.I asked him brother what happened. He replied that his brothers had betrayed and hurt him. He feels he doesn't have anybody in this world. I felt sorry and prayed to Allah that HE gives peace and tranquility to my brother.I told him, "Brother the way Muslims have been betraying Muslims, the way Muslims are not united, is a very dangerous scenario but remember that we are living according to the orders of Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala so that On The Day of Judgement we can answer for our deeds and get Jannatul Firdaus. There has been people who has hurt me and betrayed me a lot. But think about some people who get complete devastated when their brothers in Islam hurts them. Think about the people in Iraq, Chechnya, Palestine, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Africa who are brutally coming under the Western Attacks".

We are the servants of Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala and our first and foremost priority is to work for the sake of Allah.
Insha Allah we can achieve Jannatul Firdaus.

May Allah grant victory to our brothers in Chechnya and rest of the world. My love, regards and duwas go out for the real Muslim brothers and sisters of the Ummah. Surely a lot of Muslims wear the title of Islam but only a handful follows it with a solid strong IMAAN.

# Crimes of The Indian Troops in Kashmir

Crimes of The Indian Troops in Kashmir

In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorisms martyred one more Kashmir youth at Behrampora area of Pattan.

The dead body of the martyred youth was recovered from the debris of one of the many destroyed houses by Indian troops' mortar shelling.

Troops severely beat journalists in the area and snatched their cameras and mobile phone. These journalists had come there for the coverage of the crackdown operations in which troops had martyred three Kashmiri youth and destroyed dozens of houses. Three Indian troops, including a colonel, had also been killed during this crackdown operation.

In Poonch, two children were killed in a landmine explosion. Unidentified gunmen shot dead one person each in Tangmarg and Chatroo area of Kishtwar. A personnel of Central Reserve Police Force committed suicide with his own service rifle at Bemina in Srinagar.

At Chrarwani in Charar-i-Sharief, Border Security Force personnel severely thrashed civilians during a crackdown, wounding 11 persons. The troops also forced people to parade in the chilly weather.

In Baramulla, a violent protest demonstration was held in front of the office of the chief medical officer due to the non-availability of surgical instruments by the puppet authorities, posing serious threat to patients' lives.

Meanwhile, the High Court of occupied Kashmir quashed the draconian public safety act enforced against four illegally detained Kashmiris, ordering their immediate release.

Meanwhile, total strike was observed and protest demonstrations were held at Hajan area of Sonawari and Dangarpora area of Sopore against Indian state terrorism. The demonstrators raised full-throated anti-India and pro-liberation slogans,- HizbMedia reported.

Jammu, December 26: In occupied Kashmir, during the year 2006, more soldiers committed suicides or killed their colleagues in than were killed in gunfights with Kashmiri Mujahideen.

Seventy-two army personnel, including many officers, were killed by Kashmiri Mujahideen but over 100 of them committed suicide or died in the incidents of infighting. On Dec 1, a Lt. colonel, posted with 15 Rashtriya Rifles in Mahore area of Udhampore had committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver.

In the recent surge in suicides among army, a new feature was that many of those who committed suicides were officers; one captain, one major and one lieutenant were among other Indian soldiers who committed suicides. Psychiatrists attribute the increase in the number of suicide cases to low morale, bad service conditions and growing frustration among troops.

A psychiatrist said that generally for Indian Army such people were available for recruitment who were already vulnerable to stress disorders and who didn't have a very enough motivation to join army.

# Some thoughts from India

# Russia Arms India Against Muslims

In a bid to remove a major irritant in Indo-Russian military ties, Moscow has offered to set up service centres for its frontline weapon systems in use with India\'s armed forces and supply specialised steel for an indigenous aircraft carrier.

The offer of setting up service centres on Indian soil came after three days of deliberations between Russian armament companies and top officials of the Defence Ministry, DRDO and Ordnance Factories Board.

Besides servicing equipment like warships and helicopters, the service centres to be set up by Rosoboronservice (India) will maintain inventories of crucial spares.

"We are determined to ensure that the supply of crucial spares and servicing does not come in the way of growing Russian-Indian defence partnership," the firm\'s Managing Director V G Jayaprakasam told reporters here.

# Tragedy of The Assamese Muslims

Recently, I have had to visit a village in Satgaon area within GMC in connection with my professional duty. To me the village appeared like an African village of hunger and starvation. On casual enquiry, I found that villagers are of Kamrupi origin and they are Muslim by faith. It was apparent to me that their income is too low to buy two square meals for their family. There is no doubt that many people are suffering from diseases like tubercolisis. They buy kerosene at Rs 32 per litre. I would like to ask a very crude question : are they neglected because they are Muslim by faith? I think by Zakaat we cannot remove poverty, we must have scientific blueprint of progress for BPL people.

Muslim refugees threaten armed struggle

The victims of the communal riot of 1992, as many as 25,000 Muslim refugees spread in eight refugee camps in Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar districts, have expressed strong resentment over the State Government's nonchalant attitude towards solving their problems.
As they have been languishing in different camps for the last 13 years or so, during this long period they have been to Dispur last gate 29 times observing hunger strikes and adopting ‘Dispur chalo' programme four times in pursuance of their long-pending demands for rehabilitation, provision of food, health and education facilities.

As revealed by the president of the refugee committee Abdul Wahab Mollah, every time on the eve of assembly elections, they are assured of solution of the rehabilitation issue, but as soon as the elections pass off, everything is forgotten and the refugees are left to endure more sufferings. It was the same story prior to the last elections too. After several rounds of discussions with the delegates of the refugees, Dr Bhumidhar Barman, Minister in-charge of Rehabilitation, had promised to settle, all issues including allocation of land of Salabila-Bhandara and settlement of refugees of Bongaigaon district in IAY houses. But nothing positive happened on those promises so far.

Mallah said, ‘after long 13 years of democratic movement in support of our legitimate demands for food and rehabilitation now we have realised that the government would always have the same attitude towards democratic ways of protests and demands. It rather pays heed to the issues of those organisatiosn who take up arms and ammunition. Therefore, if our case is not considered keenly within the first ten days of the Ramzan month, we would take up arms, and this will be the only way out for us."

This is worth mentioning here that Dr Bhumidhar Barman had assured of ration to the inmates of the camps for the whole Ramzan month when he had entered into a discussion with the delegates of the Refugee Committee and had accordingly directed the commissioner CK Das to initiate the process. When even after seven days no supply of ration was available, Dr Barman again convened a meeting with the delegates on September 18, but on that occasion he made himself unavoidable for the meeting as he had to leave for Nagaon. The refugee committee then interpreted this as to be hoodwinking them so that their proposed September 19 programme of fast unto-death could be thwarted. Mallah also recalled that back in March 29, in 2004, Dr Barman himself had sworn that by any means he would rehabilitate them at different places on government land.

Albeit 100 IAY houses were constructed at Salabila-Bhandara but when a group protested it through the Gauhati High Court, the entire process came to a halt. But Dr Barman has allegedly maintained silence thereafter. On the contrary, now the minister is reported to have directed the ADC Azad Ali of Dhubri district that each of the legitimate refugee family be awarded Rs 20,000 cash with their signature on revenue stamp thus to settle the whole of the rehabilitation issue for once and all. This, the ‘Muslim Saranarthee Committee of Bongaigaon-Kokrajhar District, feels is an attempt to crush them out. They would no way accept this offer.

Meanwhile, the Garaimari camp by the river Aie and along NH-31 is facing the twin threat from the expansion work of National Highway and the erosion by the river Aie.

The committee hence, for the last time has appealed to the government for early rehabilitation of the refugees at least on human rights grounds or else they would be forced to intensify their movement by resorting to other means.

Wakf in Shillong

The functioning of the Meghalaya Board of Wakfs is under the whims of its chairman, and this has caused consternation among the Muslim residents of Shillong. Lack of transparency and autocratic style of functioning of its chairman is detrimental to the Meghalaya Board of Wakfs. According to Muslim law, Wakf is dedication of property for pious and charitable purposes. Unfortunately, the objective of creating the Wakf in question has been undone by the un-Islamic nature of the Wakf properties in Shillong. The benefits of Wakf properties have not percolated to the beneficiaries. Till date, no charitable work has been done for the Muslim residents of Shillong. It is indeed disheartening that the Meghalaya Board of Wakfs has become an instrument of personal aggrandizement of a select few.

Will the Government of Meghalaya that constituted the Meghalaya Board of Wakfs, review the functioning of the board so as to ensure that the beneficiaries of Wakf properties are not deprived of the benefits?

Hired beggars flood Guwahati The mint and the begging bowl do contrast in many a way, but there is a section of people out in Guwahati that has ably blended them (mint and begging bowl), and has been doing a roaring business. The Sentinel carried out a study in Greater Guwahati spanning almost 14 hours from 4.30 a.m. on September 17 and unearthed the stunning truth that almost 90 per cent of beggars of this capital city are working for organizations on hired basis! Each of them (the beggars) is paid Rs 25 a day for his / her 14-hour ‘service' no matter how much he / she can earn.

Our study covered areas from Sixth Mile to Adabari, from Anuradha Cinema to Rajdhani Masjid, Hatigaon via the Guwahati Railway Station. It was around 4.30 a.m. when we reached Rajdhani Masjid, and were on the wait for the prey. We had prior information that beggars in Guwahati are being used by several organizations which have been doing a roaring business with ‘begging bowls'. Proving the information right, we saw a Maruti van dropping four beggars in front of Rajdhani Masjid at 4.40 a.m. The vehicle speeded towards Ganesh Mandir and disappeared. The beggars - two men, a woman and a child - began their daily work spreading a torn rag in front of them and placing aluminium utensils with a few coins on them. The beggars were Saheb, Ustad, Salema and Jahanara. "We live in one room in Jhuripar. The 8X8 sq feet room is used as the kitchen as well as the bed room," Ustad told us. "We earn around Rs 300 a day, and on festivals it is around Rs 500. But, we don't get the whole amount. We have to give our masters the money we get. They give us Rs 25 a day and the night's meal," said Ustad, who hesitated to reveal the identity of their masters thinking us to be policemen. They have no idea of reporters.

"We are from Hojai. We don't know much about them. But they are rich and some of them even talk of ministers," Salema said.

We did not waste time and proceeded towards Sukreswar Temple, Panbazar and reached there at 5.15 p.m. There were a few beggars ready to begin their daily business. We thought that we missed the height of the story, but three vehicles dropped as many as 14 people of different ages there. Some of them were disabled.

We approached them only to know that each of them is provided night's meal and Rs 25 a day. They said they are from Bharalumukh, Hatigaon and Bhutnath areas on the city. All of them are minorities.

Most of them were taken to the city by their relatives living in Guwahati. "We can't live on the footpaths at night. Authorities send us away, and we are afraid of dogs. The girls have the risk of molestation. This is our permanent place, and we have been begging here for almost three years. Everybody knows us," 57-year-old Hafeez said.

From there, we rushed to Adabari Tinali to have a cup of tea and see the development. By the time we reached Adabari, it was 6.25 a.m. It was clear sunshine. We saw the beggars on the footpaths. They were a few in number. The reason is Viswakarma Puja. There will be less crowd at Adabari on that day. We were told the same story. "Sometimes we don't earn much. But with our contract with them, we are certain to get a regular income of Rs 25 a day and the night's meal," this was the answer when asked as to why they do not opt for begging on their own.

The tale turned pathetic at the Guwahati Railway Station. A number of beggars were in the area when we arrived there at 7.15 a.m. We approached through a narrow path among the beggars. From kids to old, it was an area with human heads only. A 15-year-old girl was trying to control a 14-month-old kid on her lap. The kid was crying, but when we approached her the baby started to cry louder. To our utter surprise, we saw that the girl was pinching the kid to make it cry. But why? Her answer gave us the worst shock.
"This is not my baby. This is given to me by my boss to win sympathy from babus," Sabitri, the girl, said.

We went to different areas in the city and met many beggars, some of whom even asked us if we were a new party and ready to pay them more. Fatema, Hafeez, Ustad are a few examples of people with physical disabilities who are used in a professional way by a section with emotion as the tool. It is high time that the authorities institute an inquiry to unearth the racket.

Muslim deprivation

150 million Muslims constituting 13.4 per cent of the country's population suffer from deficit and deprivation in all the dimensions of development, such as educational attainment, access to health care and infrastructure facilities, employment opportunities in public and private sectors, representation in the legislatures etc as starkly revealed in the report of the Rajinder Sachar Committee presented to Parliament recently. The Committee, after examining various datas and visits to the States, remarked, "in fact, by and large, Muslims rank somehwat above SCs/STs but below Hindu OBC's, other minorities and Hindu General (mostly upper caste) in almost all indicators considered." This is a telling comment on the horrible condition of the Muslim community for which the Governments at the Centre and the States should share the blame for their failure to give the minority Muslim community its due share in the overall development of the country in the last sixty years since independence. The Rajinder Sachar Committee deserves the appreciation of the nation for bringing to light the hard realities of the Muslim community which should prick the conscience of the nation except of course, of the Saffron Brigade.

The Sachar Committee found a clear and significant inverse correlation between the proportion of Muslim population and availability of infrastructural facilities. There is evidence of low-level of infrastructure of all kinds, in villages with high Muslim population, such as schools, health centres, pucca road, drinking water or electricity. The Sachar Committee found that the larger the Muslim village, the less is the supply of electricity or tap-water. Muslim representation in government jobs is equally unsatisfactory. The Committee found that in twelve States, where Muslim population share is 15.4 per cent, their share of Government jobs is a mere 5.7 per cent. These States include-West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Asom. In West Bengal, Muslim share of the Government jobs is the lowest ie-4.2 per cent. In the all India services, representation of Muslim is very very negligible. In the IAS, it is only 2.2 per cent, in the IPS it is about 3 per cent. Even in politics, Muslims are under represented. The representation of Muslim MPs in the Lok Sabha is only 6 per cent. The under representation in the Legislative Assembly, measured in relation to the total Muslim population in the State concerned, varies from as high as 71 per cent in Karnataka to the lowest of 46 per cent in Uttar Pradesh. These statistics may not convey the whole truth, but they often point to the truth. The BJP has termed the Sachar Committee Report as full of bias and prejudice. The is not an objective and fair assessment of the well-researched and documented report which needs serious examination and debate.

The Sachar Committee has recommended several valuable suggestions to remove these distortions. It recommended the creation of an Equal Opportunity Commission, modelled in the UK Race Relation Act, 1976 to look into the grievances of the religious minorities. It has suggested the creation of a national bank to collect and store data and an autonomous authority to assess, monitor and suggest timely policy action. In the sphere of education, the Committee suggests setting up of quality government schools, especially for girls and providing primary education in Urdu in areas where the language is widely known. The importance of Muslims as an intrinsic part of the diverse Indian social mosaic should be recognised by the political parties instead of treating them only as a vote bank to win elections. The UPA Government, which appointed the Sachar Committee to evaluate the social, economic and educational status of the Muslims, should now initiate affirmative action in the line of the recommendations of the Committee, to build an inclusive, plural and secular society where minorities donot get marginalised or suffer from a sense of alienation.

# Gujarat Muslims are living as 2nd-class citizens

Muslims in the western Indian state of Gujarat, especially in the rural areas, are living as second class citizens, according to Harsh Mandar, a former IAS officer and prominent activist for communal harmony in Gujarat.

The situation in Gujarat is deteriorating, more than three years after the deadly 2002 Hindu-Muslim riots, in which more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, died, Mandar, told a conference organized by Association of Indian Muslims, (AIM).

Mandar, who quit the IAS protesting the state's failure to curb the violence in Gujarat, worked for nine months in Gujarat to observe the Muslims' situation.

"The poison of communal hatred has percolated in the environment of villages of Gujarat so deeply that it has seeped down into the Muslim community's soul which now lives in total isolation," he said, according to the IndianMuslims.Info.

Mandar also said that thousands of the refugees who escaped their homes during the Gujarat riots are afraid to return. Moreover, he said that some of the displaced are not being allowed to enter their villages, and that the rest are being threatened or blackmailed to drop their cases in the court.

Other conditions for their return include: keeping quite about the atrocities perpetrated on them, to live separately, no freedom of Azan (call for prayers from mosque) loudly, to live with social-economic boycott etc.

Mandar also said that those who have returned live in fear and isolation, accusing the state of failing to improve the situation. He warned that India is passing through a very difficult time wherein saffron forces are determined to marginalize minorities and keep them as second-class citizens.

"We are fighting second freedom struggle not on roads but in the minds of the majority community of Gujarat to change their perception and attitude towards minorities," he said.

He also said that he wants to design a plan to "bring about some interaction between Hindus and Muslims", stressing the need for inter-community dialogue and reconciliation.

Meanwhile, social activist Prof. Ram Puniyani of Bombay, told the conference that some evil forces are trying to widen the gap between Hindus and Muslims, citing last month's deadly blasts in Bombay as an example.

"Muslims and Islam are being tagged with terrorism in order to deny them their rights and justice. If only Muslims were terrorists then Indonesia with highest Muslims population in the world would have been the headquarter of terrorist activities," he explained

# Mumbai Police's shameless treatment of Muslims

Mumbai Police's shameless treatment of Muslims is exposed by Mumbai's English daily newspaper Mid-day

Dr Tanveer Ansari, (member of SIMI, Students Islamic Movement of India) one of the main accused in the Mumbai train blast case - a man whose 'confessions' police claim have helped them get key conspirators - has written a letter to the MCOCA court listing the methods used by the police to make him 'talk'.

Ansari alleges that ATS chief K P Raghuvanshi told him bluntly that the police knew he had no role in the blasts and then told him to lie to strengthen their case.

He also alleges that another officer tried to bribe him: saying he would be paid and taken care of if he memorised a statement that indicted him and stuck to it in court. Part of this happened in the presence of police commissioner A N Roy, says Ansari.

Ansari's letter was submitted to the MCOCA court on November 3. It is now part of court record, which means that the police will have to respond to it at the time of trial.

'We know you are innocent, but...'

Dr Tanvir Ansari, one of the main accused in the July 11 train blasts, has submitted an eight-page letter to the MCOCA court alleging that police officials investigating the case asked him to lie.

"Doctor, hamaare liye jhoot bol do" were the words used by ATS officers, according to Ansari. This is the first letter that one of the 13 people accused in the case has submitted to court.

Ansari was a practising Unani doctor and worked at Sabu Siddique general hospital in Bhendi Bazaar at the time of his arrest.

Excerpts from Ansari's letter, which was written in English:

When they realised that their harassment didn't affect me anymore, DCP (ATS) Naval Bajaj offered that if I co-operate, I would be paid and taken care of in the future. He added that if I refuse, they would torture and implicate my family in the blasts case.

Confrontation

I was taken to the ATS head office and produced before Commissioner A N Roy and Joint Commissioner (ATS) K P Raghuvanshi. They told me, "Doctor, we know you are innocent and have no connection with these blasts... But until we find the main accused, we'll have to keep you in custody."

Liar liar

On October 1, I was taken to Raghuvanshi's office, where he agreed that I didn't have anything to do with the blasts, but asked for my co-operation. He said he would pay for the damage done. He then told me, "Doctor, hamaare liye jhoot bol do (Lie for us)," and proposed that I become an approver. I was forced to sign papers in the DCP Zone-1 (preventive) office, which I later came to know was my confession. When I was produced before the magistrate on October 9, I denied it.
The arrest

On July 20, crime branch unit 2 officers took me from my hospital for enquiry. They realised that the Kurla police had arrested me in September 2001 for connections with SIMI. Fit caseI also told them that in May 2004, I had visited Iran. Then in Marathi, the officers told each other that he is the right candidate to be booked in the blasts case.Puzzling papers In the first remand sheet, police forced me to sign papers written in Hindi and Marathi, which they never allowed me to read. ATS gave me a few papers, asked me to memorise it, and told me that if I co-operated, I would be released soon. Torture timeWhen I refused, they made me stand through the night, without allowing me any food. When I was exhausted, I memorised some of it and gave an audio-video recording of it.

Police storyNaval Bajaj: I will give my rebuttal to the investigating officer and the court if need be. Why should I comment on what some accused has alleged?

A N Roy: I don't wish to comment on this letter or his claims
The 11/7 story

While the police were looking for passport agent linked to Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI- The revolutionary Movement working for the uplift of Muslim Community and to re-establish Khilafah. SIMI supports all Jihadi Movements all over the world. And consider it is the part of Islamic renaissance and Al Jama and Khilafah) Rahil Shaikh, around Nagpada, Tanveer Ansari's name came up. Ansari learnt about the explosives from Pakistan's Azam Cheema, who he was constantly in touch with after returning to Mumbai.

On Ehtesham Siddique's (Maharashtra Zonal Secretary of SIMI) demand, Ansari made an explosive using nitric acid, hydrogen peroxide, sulphuric acid and ammonium nitrate. Through Faisal Shaikh, Ansari went to Lashkar-e-Taiba training camps in Pakistan from India via Iran.

When we see how these puppets for the devils can carry out their wish as they want , I feel there is a real need for a national uprising by the muslims to demonish the kuffars and their ideologies. But before that the muslims have to make themselves stronger. So there has to be a proper planning as to how we can suppress the oppressing by the devils.

There is a great need for a change among the muslims in india as most of them are deeply engrossed into the materialistic pleasure of this world and they are forgetting as to why they are in this world. We need to urge our children, the young muslims as well as the young ,the old , the rich , the poor that until and unless we try to change ourselves Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala is not going to change our condition.

We need to become more concerned as to our meeting with Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgement and that our face shine with the glory and triumph for living according to the orders of Allah.

# The Realities of Indian Occupied Kashmir

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Weekly Takbeer, Srinagar, October 31st 1990.

“Born in 1966, 24 year old Miss Loura Jane Lambie, a Canadian agricultural science student, was on a stroll on October 11th on the boulevard in Srinagar when it was just getting towards darkness. Near the Centaur Hotel, she was having a chat with three local boys asking them about what was going on in Kashmir and was immediately waylaid by personnel of the Indian National Security Guards (MSG) traveling in a white Maruti van. They were armed with automatic weapons and carried radios. One of them, tall but slim, warned Loura not to get into conversation with local Muslim youth. “All of them are very, very dangerous terrorists and can molest you in this desolate spot”, he told her.
When the guards asked her who she was, she replied “a Canadian”. “You shall have to accompany us to the police station” and thus Loura was asked to board the vehicle. Instead of any police station, Loura was taken to the Oberoi palace hotel where the guards had a drink, from their own bottles because the hotel bar was closed. She did not drink even though she was invited to do so. Then guards then ordered her to board the vehicle again as they told her it was not safe for her to go back to the house boat at that late hour, for the Kashmiri militants could kill her at any spot. The guards also took away her purse. Loura was then taken to a garden near Chasma Shahi. It was 1 am on October 12th.

One of the guards directed Loura to undress but she did not oblige. Her clothes were torn and she was laid down on the ground and gang raped. She cried under the open sky but there was no one to listen to her moans and shrieks except the sleeping state governor, Girish Saxena, in Raj Bavan, which is situated only a few hundred yards from the scene of the incident. For a change, Loura was taken to another adjacent garden and the gang rape by five guards continued until finally she fell unconscious.

A semi conscious Loura was then dropped on the roadside, at a slight distance from where she had been picked up the previous evening. On being sighted by the locals, she was carried to the police station a Nehru Park where a case for kidnapping and rape was registered under sections 366 and 367 of the Rambir Penal Code under First Information Report No: 90/40. The police officer at the station recommended a medical examination of the victim and Loura was taken to Lal Ded Women’s hospital in Srinagar.

Two female doctors examined her ascertaining that dead sperms were found in her uterus and the passage leading to it. There were scratches on her thighs, arms and breasts, which testify that she resisted.

Loura Jane Lambie told pressmen that very day how brutally the security guards raped her. The matter when brought to higher authorities in the state and also when it was taken up with the government of India by the Canadian high commission in New Delhi, the state police registered the case against the guards, arresting two of them whom Loura had identified in a batch of sixty four guards paraded before her. She recognized them even though both of them had shaven of their beards.

Loura was kept in protective custody by the state authorities and was allowed an interview with the state governor on October 13th who promised stern action would be taken against the guards turned rapists.

The authorities acted swiftly in view of the Canadian government taking serious notice of the incident and it was in record time that an inquiry was conducted and the culprits punished.

Here lies the difference between the rape of a foreigner and that of a Muslim Kashmiri woman. The latter is treated as an allegation and passed of unnoticed and unwept.”

William W. Baker’s treatise; “Kashmir, Happy Valley, Valley of Death.” The American author visited the Occupied territories in 1994. From his Medical section he wrote;
“Hospital crackdowns occur at all three major hospitals as verified by doctors. These “crackdowns” amount to a shutdown of the hospitals and usually the accusation of the doctors harboring illegal weapons and resistance fighters. While enduring these searches, the hospitals are completely shutdown. The doctors and hospital staff are not allowed to care for their patients while the search goes on. All the staff are confined to their quarters and offices, and as a result, many critically ill patients are left t die on the operating tables! Under the guise of conducting a “security search” the authorities often physically abuse the patients, as well as the case of Mrs. Perveena Sheikh, a forty five year old cancer victim, who along with other patients suffering from painful afflictions, were rolled over and over in their beds while the soldiers, laughing, continued to ask “where are the arms?” their lighter was unable to cover the screams of the victims as monitors intravenous lines and catheters were ripped from their veins. Mr. Abdul Rohm, thirty-five years of age and suffering from a liver abcess with metabolic acidosis and hypertension was on a life saving I/V line. As he was rolled over and over and the line was ripped away, the physician on duty was prevented from restarting the I/V line for nearly an hour, and as a result Mr. Rahim suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. I met six families at the hospital who had family members die while the security forces carried out their crackdowns. It is important to note that in all the crackdowns and searches of the hospital, not a single weapon or “militant” was found, nor had the doctors and staff ever knowingly hidden arms or resistance fighters. “Suspected” Mujahideen were often taken from the hospital immediately after surgery, and in some cases, in the midst of surgery! Many never returned, and those that were brought back to the hospital were near dead.”

Christopher Thomas, The Times, London, August 10th 1993.

“Students are targets in the streets of Kashmir, as was the case of a twenty year-old man walking to school in the middle of the afternoon. An Indian army truck with a machine gun mounted on the back pulled alongside and soldiers ordered him to look at them, upon doing so he was shot through the throat. He was left where he fell until some other civilians took him to the hospital. A doctor explained that the bullet tore through the young man’s trachea and oesophegus, finally crushing his spine. This handsome young Kashmiri was unable to speak, and the doctor continued to tell the effects of that single bullet, that this young man could not eat, could not breath, could not even move and was only awaiting the peace and freedom of a hastening death. It was asked for the young man’s prognosis; “he is going to die very, very soon” was the reply. Mercifully this innocent youth died several days later.
Masroof Sultan, 19 takes off his shirt to reveal ten bullet wounds and the scars of torture by electric shocks. A doctor’s report states that bullet injuries were sustained to the right thigh, both arms, neck, chest and head. That he lived is embarrassing to those who shot him; he is scared that will come back to complete the job his story tells much about the tactics of the Indian Security forces in Kashmir. The official version is that he was shot in “crossfire”, which must be dismissed as nonsense by any body who has seen Mr. Sutan's multiple wounds. According to him, he was put up against a tree by soldiers from the Border Security Forces, a paramilitary group, and shot by men with rifles. He said he was shot again when he was seen to be alive. A third wave of bullets smashed in to him to make sure. “ An officer put his hand in front of my mouth to see if I was breathing. I held my breath. I was semi conscious,” he said. He has had four operations so far, and doctors say he needs two more. He cannot walk properly because his thigh was broken and his knees were injured, he says, from the being beaten with sticks during interrogation the doctor’s report, from the bone and joint hospital in Srinagar, is unequivocal in it’s prognosis: “permanent disability”. Until recently, before soldiers ordered him off a bus and decided he was a freedom fighter, he was a science student. He was apparently singled out for interrogation because he had come from an area of Srinagar with a reputation for resistance. He had not even been identified by “cats” –informants. They are called cats because only their eyes can be seen i.e. they wear a hood. “The cat has power over life and death”, says Mufti Bahauddin Farooqi, former chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir and now a human rights worker. “He can get anyone arrested and murdered by pointing a finger”; cats usually turn informer because they are threatened or tortured; it is probable that some are paid. Mr. Sultan’s life changed forever when, some hours after being taken off the bus, he was sent to an interrogation center. He said there was a rope hanging from the ceiling, a big roller, this heavy device is used for rolling over the legs and body, a common and well documented form of torture in Kashmir, and a piece of apparatus that turned out to be an electric shock system. He said bare wires were attached to his penis and big toes, then water thrown over him. “I was given three shocks. I lost my senses. Blood came from my nose and mouth. They beat my knees with sticks.” After the torture, he was taken away, and outside a building used by the Border Security Forces, he was shot. No young man in Kashmir is safe from the Security Forces. That is why so many of them live refugee camps on the Pakistani side of Kashmir. It is exceptionally hard to find someone, young or old, in the Kashmir valley who does not want Kashmir to secede from India.”

“They rejoice in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty, rejoicing for the sake of those who have not yet joined them, but are left behind (not yet martyred) that on them no fear shall come, nor shall they grieve.” (Soorah 3: 170)

Ghazi describes the treacherous departure form occupied to Azad Kashmir.

“The route which we embarked upon was the one which Naeim (a guide) has recently been Shaheed upon Insha Allah, having fallen to his martyrdom. We consider it to be a mid lengthy one, spreading over a dangerous journey of approximately four to five days.

This notorious crossing, as most routes are, is known for the steep mountain faces that it harbors, ridges, some of which are located over and above cloud level, which the Mujahideen return would cover. Steep ledges coupled with river crossings that involve leaping over and onto huge boulders and small rocks, both of which can be wet, moss covered and dangerously slippery.

Under and around these rocks, fast flow rivers gush forth at white water rapid speed. This sort of river hopping will spread across entire nights, nights of profound desperate exhaustion and extreme chills, worse still when raining and the wind may be blowing powerfully. Exhaustion which cannot be confounded simply by resting because, not only are they on a minimal supply of sustenance, but also the bitter cold at this altitude does not allow resting for lengthy periods. This is to say one must constantly be on the move in order to preserve at least a minimal amount of body warmth at these levels.

Enemy camps and bunkers are strewn across the entire area with parts where the Mujahideen cannot even walk across, such as manmade tracks or the soft sand to be found on the riverbanks. This is for fear of leaving distinctive ‘stud’ marked indentations in the malleable ground with ones footprints.

Pont in case, stud tipped, ankle boot training shoes are worn by the fighters when crossing in or out of the Occupied state. The rest of the rime inside, they are usually fitted with flimsy plimsolls, the likes of which area commonly warn by primary school children in the west; unfortunately their resources do not reach much better then his in the Occupied Territories.

Most of the time the Mujahideen cannot simply go in a vertical or horizontal line, even if the landscape permits, rather they are forced to go around mountains, peak after peak. Unfortunately, these stretch to their very highest on the borders. Darting in and out and evading enemy camps I fact more then doubles the journey.

In fact in many ways it can be said that the return trips are even more perilous hen the ones to venture in. this is so because the weaponry which they emphatically struggled to bring inside initially will, rather then accompany them on reverting, be buried in a cache, stashed away in some safe haven as a back up for those staying inside. Hence, it is this that renders each man returning to be equipped with either a pistol or a grenade and dagger. The guides will probably be the bearers of one or two rifles (AK-47) with minimal ammunition all round.

It is a route not only littered with natural hardships such as the long sweeping sheets of ice, frozen and lying dormant mostly all year round, but also the manmade ones such as the anti personnel mines and trip wires.

It follows that even the most experienced of men can, if willed by their Lord, fall prey to a natural order, one that of course we cannot deem to be a disaster. Footing can all so easily be lost, mines can be stepped upon as of a surety they have in the past. Hazardous injuries of many sorts, including the fracturing of bones can easily happen; the list is long with the torments that can and do affect the zealot. It is the most soul searching experience one may envisage”

“And if you are killed or die in the way of Allah, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better then all that they amass (of worldly wealth etc)” (Soorah 3: 157)

* Indian Government tortures Muslims

Indian Government tortures Muslims

((The kufrian Indian Government widely tortures and targeting Muslim youths after 9/11. Just go through this news published by one of an Indian news paper. This will give you an idea about the desires of Kufiran Indian government and how they target Educated Muslim youths who are working for the uplift of Muslim Ummah and to establish Khilafa. ))

An MD, an MBA, an aeronautical engineer. Professionally they have little in common, but personally they have much -- an acute sense of injustice, a fierce disgruntlement with India, a violent desire for 'revenge.'

Educated, intelligent and suave, they are the new face of terrorism across India. Consider this: Of the 23 main accused in the bomb blasts in Mumbai since December 2002, five are engineers, three doctors, two graduates, and one an MBA.

"Some of them have been victims of communal violence," says Shankar Mahadevan, a leading psychologist in south India. "Some take up causes and some are greatly upset because they feel that even if they become doctors or engineers, they would be treated with suspicion due to their religion."

Such feelings make them easy prey for brainwashing by organisations like the banned Students Islamic Movement of India, according to the police.

((Government banned the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) after the 9/11. The foolish Indian government believes SIMI was behind 9/11. ))

"A few years ago," a Delhi police official says, "we could not even think an MBA or a doctor would organise bomb blasts."

Check out this list -- some are accused of involvement in the blasts, some are in police custody, some in hiding:

Dr Mohammed Abdul Mateen Abdul Bashid, 28: An MD in forensic sciences from Aurangabad University, he worked at the J J Hospital in Mumbai. He is the main accused in the December 2, 2002 Ghatkopar blast. Intelligence and police officials claim he is a Member of SIMI and a Lashkar-e-Tayiba operative.

Sayed Khwaja Yunus Khwaja Ayub, 28: An instrumentation engineer from Parbani near Aurangabad, he worked in Dubai before being charged with involvement in the Ghatkopar blast. Was associated with SIMI while in college. A few weeks after his arrest, the police claim he absconded from custody. His family has alleged that he has been killed in an encounter.

Anwar Ali, 33: MA, MCom and a master's in computer management. Accused in the March 13 bomb blast on the CST-Karjat train in Mumbai, Ali was a part-time Urdu lecturer at the National Defence Academy, Pune. He was the Maharashtra state president of SIMI.

Atif Nasir Mulla, 26: A graduate of Wilson College, Mumbai, he obtained his MBA from Pune University. Unmployed and about to get married, he was arrested for allegedly sheltering two Pakistanis who were shot dead by the Delhi police in Gurgaon, Haryana on March 29. Member of SIMI.

Zaheer Ahmed Bashir Ahmed, 28: A chemical engineer from Aurangabad, he ran a consultancy firm in that city. He is an accused in the Ghatkopar blast. A SIMI member, he is detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Zaheer Ahmed Basheer Sheikh, 28: A chemical engineer from Aurangabad University, he too was an active SIMI member. After SIMI was banned, Sheikh was held under POTA.

Dr. Abdul Mobin, 31: He was studying Unani medicine at Aligarh Muslim University when he was arrested for allegedly masterminding the August 14, 2000 bomb blasts on the Sabarmati Express train at Agra, which killed nearly a dozen people. Member of SIMI.

Saquib Abdul Hamid Nachen, 41: A commerce graduate from Mumbai, he was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in 1992 for terrorist links. Though he spent most of the last decade in prison, the police say he masterminded four bombings in Mumbai since 2001. He is now held under POTA. He was the All India Secretary General of SIMI.

To understand what breeds terrorism in educated minds, rediff.com spoke to Saleem Khan (not his real name), an engineering student at a Mumbai college. In January 1993, when Mumbai was engulfed by the post-Ayodhya communal riots, Saleem's father, a government employee, was murdered by a Hindu mob.

Saleem was eight then. He was saved because his mother locked him inside their house. From there, he listened to his father's screams for help.

Ten years down the line, Saleem awaits justice outside the collector's office in Mumbai. "We were told we would get Rs 200,000 as compensation," he says. "They have given us nothing till now."

Why? "Simple. I am a Muslim. The Hindus in this country cannot share anything with our community. This is their rule. Muslims just have to obey them quietly. If we argue, we will meet the end of my father."

After his father's killing, Saleem has not returned to his house in a Hindu area. He never will, he says. "What is the point? Those people never supported us when we needed them."

Today he lives with his mother and sister in the Muslim ghetto of Madanpura, south-central Mumbai, hardly ever interacting with non-Muslims. "What is there to interact?" he says. "Muslims must not trust them."

Saleem is one of hundreds of educated Muslims for whom there is only angst and thoughts of vengeance.

"Here," Saleem says, "no one will give me a decent job because of my religion."

Youth like Saleem, according to security specialists, could easily turn against India. "They would slip into the ways of violence and terrorism," says V Balachandran, who retired as special secretary in India's external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing, "because there is nobody to listen to their problems, complaints and needs."

Balachandran says the government must address and negate the feeling of alienation among this segment of the population. "It is time the Indian government talked to this particular section."

((This way Indian government creating ‘terrorists’ and at last they will kill them by an encounter. That will be an end of ISI agent. ))

* She talks about SIMI

She talks about SIMI

She is 22, a medical student at Aligarh Muslim University. What makes her different from her peers is that she is a member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

When she is not studying, she reads the Koran, memorising verses that strike her, explaining and interpreting their meaning to friends.

Referring to the Mumbai blasts in which SIMI members have been accused, the burqa-clad girl says, " We believes government and Hindu organisations behind it"

The government, she says, is blaming Muslim organisations and individuals to defame the community.

In support of this thesis, she cites the example of Dr. Abdul Mobin, a SIMI activist and former AMU student, who was arrested for the bomb blast on the Sabarmati Express train at Agra in 2000.

"The police have not yet proved Brother Mobin was involved in it," she says. "Only innocent people are caught and victimised."

Why is the government targeting SIMI?
"They [government] target all Muslim institutions because we are doing well. We have our reach in all sections of the society.”

"They have read the Koran and it is written there that Islam will dominate and rule one day. So they are scared of Islam. There is an international conspiracy to suppress Islam," she says.

She discovered SIMI in school. In 1995, she formally joined the organisation as an ikhwan, or basic member. After three years, she graduated to ansar, or senior member.

She feels jihad is being misinterpreted today. "Jihad starts by controlling our own self. Not doing any sin is jihad. Violence comes at a later stage. "

Will she ever take up violence?

”Yes, I will if the need be," she says. "It demands patience. We should empower ourselves politically, financially and educationally and prepare ourselves."

Indian Muslims are backward, she feels, because all successive governments have betrayed the community.
"The BJP is doing everything openly but the Congress stabbed us from the back. It was the Congress government that opened the locks of the Babri Masjid [in Ayodhya]. The BJP later pulled it down."

To survive and thrive in India, she says, Muslims must take control of power.

"Muslims should aspire to reach all top positions, be it in politics or business," she says. “We have to take control of power. Then we can spread our religion."

She is upset many educated Muslims move away from Islam under the Western influence. But she firmly believes there will come a day when the world is one big Islamic state.

"This will happen sooner or later. Islam has to rule the entire world. In shah ALLAH. We are fighting for this."

"But we will not convert others to Islam as Christians do by luring poor people. The Quran is for everybody and we will invite them to enlighten themselves."

But why does she want an Islamic rule?
"We don't believe in democracy. Islam is the best way of living. Islam advocates justice and rule of law. We are upset by this democracy where we are suppressed.”

"Every Muslim is suspected of being an ISI agent," she says. "The situation is bad for all minorities. There is so much of disparity among the people. What has this democracy given us?"

“We are not the agents of ISI. We are only the agents of ALLAH”

A rule of SIMI, which she aspires for India, would be just and fair.

"SIMI members are disciplined and they spend their life with a principle," she says. "I have learnt about my religion and how to face the world in SIMI."

Earlier, she used to attend SIMI sessions. She was taught public speaking and educated on religious and political issues. As SIMI activist, her work involved teaching others what the Koran says -- and she had to make monthly reports about her progress.

"We were trained how to approach non-Muslims and what issues to talk to them," she says. "Generally non-Muslims have wrong impression about Islam and Koran. We wanted to correct that image.

"We organised discussions on social and political issues like women's rights. Everybody was invited and we had healthy discussions. This is what we used to do, but we are portrayed as terrorists."

SIMI membership was given on the basis of a person's interest in the Islamic cause.

A teacher at AMU, who has closely watched the rise of SIMI, says, "SIMI wanted to establish an Islamic state”

# Burning Quran by Hindus in Delhi ......

# Gujarat riots: was there an Israeli connection?

Gujarat riots: was there an Israeli connection?

It is for the first time in the history of the country that massacre of Muslims has taken place and their properties have been destroyed under such an organised planning. With the passage of every day, facts relating to these riots are coming to light. The common thinking of Muslims living in riot-affected areas of Gujarat is that the butcher of Palestinian Muslims, Israel, is directly involved in these terrible anti-Muslim riots. It is quite possible that some people may consider it a flight of fancy but those who have observed the conditions prevailing in Gujarat and have a deep understanding of the Indo-Israeli relations, do not consider it a remote possibility.

According to informed sources, Narendra Modi was in Israel for some time before being appointed as chief minister. A few months ago hundreds of youngmen of Gujarat were sent to Israel ostensibly for agricultural work where they were imparted special training. These youths imbibed with Hindutva played an important role in the burning of Gujarat. A citizen of Ahmadabad badly affected by these riots said that some packets of the dangerous chemicals used by the rioters had been found with 'Made in Israel' mark on them. The seriousness of the issue can very well be judged after the discovery of these facts.
Famous defence analyst having a close watch on Israeli defence matters, Hisam Swelm, in one of his new books on Indo-Israeli relations has expressed deep concern over India's growing relations with Israel which can prove very dangerous, and even fatal, for India itself. Swelm has regretted that for Hindutva rulers of India, four million Jews of Israel are more important than 1.04 billion Muslims and 54 Islamic countries.

It is worth noting that previous Congress governments of the country had been very cautious in maintaining relations with Israel. However, during the past three or four years, the warmth and enthusiasm with which the ruling BJP has given importance to its relations with Israel and increased their mutual cooperation in defence affairs and fields, has created doubts among secular circles of the country .Also, there is substantial dissatisfaction among Arab countries. On the occasion of senior government officials’ tour to Israel, Arab newspapers are engaged in various kinds of guessworks and describe it as the beginning of a dangerous era. An Arab journalist has gone to the extent of saying that Zionism and Hindutva have a common agenda against Islam and Muslims. Whenever the Hindu national government of India has spoken in support of Palestine, it has in reality done so in consideration of oil wealth of the Gulf countries. Otherwise, India was neither concerned with Palestine's miserable condition in the past nor is it concerned today.

As a matter of fact it is our rulers' anti-Muslim proclivities which make them interested in treating Israel as their closest ally. If you want to see the moral qualities of a person, you should see his or her friends. When we look at it in this context,a terrible picture emerges because India's new and close friend is Israel, which is thirsty for innocent Muslim blood. Israel has justified everything for the fulfilment of its Zionist objectives, which can never be fulfilled through righteous means.

This country's government, which believes in Hindutva, is also proud of its new relationship (with Israel) because the net gain of these relations has already been received by the champions of Hindutva in the form of recent riots in Gujarat.
The fact is that these relations can help the Sangh in achieving their aggressive aims and new avenues can be found for further harassing and troubling Muslims of the country. Probably our government does not want to think as to how much and how great a loss will be suffered by the country as a whole. Who does not know that annoying Arabs would not be in India’ s interest.
In an article published in a contemporary Arabic magazine, thousands of Indians working and living in Gulf countries have been given a veiled warning to impress upon their government in New Delhi to desist from hobnobling with Israel. Otherwise their own future in the Gulf would be jeopardised.

It is necessary for maintaining the country's international reputation that our government adopts a sane and sensible policy and abstains from taking anti-Muslim measures. It should ensure that the country does not reach the breaking point as the Gujarat experience is repeated everywhere
